Ok People I promise I wont wait this long again. August/ Early September art and expiramentations:

Once again, sorry for the posts. Past month of my life has been so busy and crazy, not to mention the fact that I start college tomorrow -_-. Maybe if I ever felt like disclosing my crazy life and times I would write a book. Or just paint it.

One quick thing I want to touch on before I get into the contents and details of this posts: Don’t Ever. EVER. say the word artsy. I know I probably sound like i think i’m some big art connoisseur or some hardcore artist, and I’m not (yet), but I just really feel like that word is such a joke and really is a slap in the face. You are just totally annihilating something so beautiful and undescribable in whatever shape or form and slapping on some little “Cute: catchy kidsy word on it that really just mocks everything you just referenced or were talking about.

Moving on. August. September. Art and Music.

Face-Time

I made this piece in efforts to boost my skill level with free handed cartoon faces. Kinda failed, but the I really feel that the acrylic really just tied the piece together.

Next. Scarlet Squawk. I really enjoyed painting this piece… and then came the super cheesy background which kinda threw me off… but i still was pretty happy with the outcome.

Quick Music Blurb.

Bloc Party released their fourth LP, four years later, with four member (all original) titled, well Four. Banger. HOWEVER. A few steps back from former glory. Intimacy was honestly the climax of their career with the very apex being the song ‘Ion Square’ (perfect display of keles vocal range, perfect balance between electronic and rock, and still held the whole bloc party feel through out the song.). This album I believe was really a sad effort to go back to silent alarm roots, however with a more metal alternative feel. They totally ditched the whole electronic feel and vibe they had going and just went back to basic guitars bass and drums, killed the sound, however the album didnt really seem to connect. Personally killer tracks for me include ‘So He Begins To Lie’ ‘Kettling’ and ‘We Are Not Good People’ . All three of those songs have some just straight up hardcore guitar rifts and killer beets. On the other side however, ‘The Truth’ ‘V.A.L.I.S’ ‘Team A’ and ‘Octopus’ are also killer tracks but with a more mellow soft feel and also some classic Bloc Party guitar effects. I’m done talking about this. Watch the Link below, I have to say for once i almost 100% (KEYWORD:ALMOST) agree with Mr. Fantano about Bloc Party. Also some great history of the band as well.

Back to Art. Golden Gaze.

One day at my internship i was just messin round with some highlighters and different colored markers and pens and which i came out with a pretty decent portrait of an old man on a yellow sheet of note paper (which really came out nice on that specific paper…) any ways, I went home that night and made this.

I had purchased some gold ink the day or two before and couldnt find a use for it, so i just said, “hey why not just make them the eyes!?” I really love the turn out. Really going back to the whole root and idea of my ideas starting to formulate and define their own style, i feel this is becoming apparent and present by the solid definition of each specific color.

Ok this next piece was for the Mayor of my City. titled One day of Strength ( first portrait i completed in THREE HOURS in one day. I was shocked too)

Met her at an event I attended earlier on in the day and it was suggested by a supervisor of mine that I paint her, well…. I did.

Really like the style i used, especially in her jacket, kinda going back to the whole grace water and mind piece.

Next. Untitled Lips.

Really an expiremental piece i did with Watercolor and tempera Paints, along with some more gold ink.

I used a spoon to mix the tempera which i really enjoyed cuz i like the way the colors blended. I wouldnt mind working with that medium again

Skipped these flowers. Impression of the Dew.

Another expiremental. Just trying to try out some new styles with my developing personal touch..
Last but not least (i think), Nixon V-Shade.

Once again, another expiramental made with crayons, ink, markers, gold ink, whiteout, and pencil. Like the turn out, needed to work on the shape of the face a lil more, but really was pleased.

Gotta throw one more in. 3.

Lil doodle in the sketch book, but i really loved the simplicity of the piece yet it was so cool

Definitely feel that i made some more solid and thought out pieces. R’ n G’ #5 The Golden Age is still in the works, although it is on the back-burner til December. Not every piece was  a win, but definitely can take some fresh new ideas from these and add them to the memory bank. I promise I wont take so long next time to update!!

(Menomena released their 5th LP Moms 2 days ago. Banger also. Really should check it out post Brent. Still deliver)
